- Allow plenty of time to arrive at the airport, check-in, and to board. Remember, everything takes longer with children and the last thing you want is to be stressed and rushed.
- Ask if your flight is full. If it is not, you can ask for a seat with a vacant one next to it for extra room. Always helpful!
- Remember to pack a few diapers and wipes, with diaper rash ointment in your purse and under your seat for easy access.
- Try to take your own baby food for an infant. While airlines have some baby food, it is not always what your baby likes. No one wants a meltdown!
- There are no microwaves on an airplane. To heat your bottle, flight attendants use hot water and this takes time to cool. Plan in advance.
- Don’t bring all toys out at once. Try to keep your child interested in one toy at a time to maximize play time until landing.
- Let your child carry their own backpack or small suitcase if possible. It always helps to lighten the load!
- If you are not able to purchase a seat for your child under 2 years old, you will be asked to hold your child on your lap. You must then comply with the local regulations for securing your child by means of a lap or belly belt during take-off, landing, and turbulence.
- Wear comfortable clothing when you travel and make sure to take a change of clothing for you and your baby.
- DON’T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!
