Though it may seem simple, it is often difficult to pick the best toys for your child. Here are some quick tips to keep in mind.

1. Choose toys that put your child in charge. Many newer toys on the market only perform one specific task, which often bores children quickly. Choose toys that can perform many different activities, which also encourages using imagination.
2. Pick toys that are age-appropriate. Pay attention to age specification on the toys’ packaging, as kids can get overwhelmed or disinterested quickly.
3. Buy toys that seem durable, made with materials that are not flimsy or easy breakable. Toys that are built to last are generally safer.
4. Choose toys that can be used in many different ways. Children are much more likely to get bored with a toy early if it performs only one or two tasks.
5. Toys that encourage the entire family to play together are great! It is important that you teach your child to play and share with others.
6. Pay attention to toys that push certain characters/shows in the media. Children are much more likely to watch television to see characters they know.
7. Get your kids moving! Toys that promote jumping, running, skipping or any other physical activities are great to burn calories and encourage healthy living.
8. Try to pick toys that can be used with other toys that your child may have. This will increase the chances that your child will enjoy it in the long run.
9. Toys that can grow with your child are great! Pick toys that your child can use in many different ways in months and years to come.
10. PLAY with your children!! Pick toys that you liked as a child. This will help keep you and your child interested!
