I am often asked by patients if I can advise them on natural ways to clean their home to protect their children from harsh chemicals. Here are some natural products that you probably have in your home already, that can be used for everyday cleaning. Plus, they are cheaper, often just as effective, and safe for your children to be around.

1) SALT- You can use salt to scrub cutting boards, glass dishes, and even pet bowls. Just sprinkle on a small amount and wipe with a damp cloth and water.
2) BAKING SODA- This is a great way to get rid of harsh odors. Place a small amount at the bottom of the trash, in shoes, and even in your gym bag.
3) CORNSTARCH- You can use this to absorb oil and grease stains from clothing and upholstery. Place the cornstarch on a stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, then remove with a brush or vacuum.
4) RUBBING ALCOHOL- Clean your phones and erase fingerprints from chrome. Just wipe the surface with a cloth dampened alcohol.
5) 3% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE- Get rid of mildew on tiles by sponging this over the area, then quickly removing with a mop or clean cloth.
